SukhRaah

Privacy Policy

Effective 1 October 2026

SukhRaah is operated by The Book People, India. This is the same Privacy Policy shown inside the app, plus a section about this website at the end.

About this policy

SukhRaah ("SukhRaah", "we", "us") is an app that helps you reflect on life's questions in the light of the Bhagavad Gita. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have.

We follow India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act). By creating an account and ticking "I agree", you give us your consent to process your data as described here. You can withdraw it at any time (see "Your rights").

What we collect

• Account: your mobile number (to log you in with a one-time password), the name you enter, your language, your confirmation that you are 18 or older, and the date you gave consent.

• Your questions and our answers: the messages you type to SukhRaah, the answers created for you, the Gita verses cited, and any rating or feedback you give.

• Gita activity: verses you read, listen to or bookmark, and your reading progress.

• App usage: which screens you open and what you tap (for example "verse played" or "breathing started"), with the time it happened.

• Device: phone model, Android version, app version, language/region setting, time zone and an install ID created by the app.

• Tirth: temples you mark as visited or want to visit, and temple suggestions you send us.

• Premium (when available): your plan and purchase status. Payments are handled by Google Play — we never see your card or UPI details.

• Your progress: verses you have read, daily activity (for example breathing, japa, meditation and yoga sessions), Gita Yatra days and the notes you write there, your Aaj ki Seva days and notes, temples you mark, badges, your rashi and Panchang city. These are saved to your account so they come back on a new phone or after you log in again.

Your Yatra and Seva notes are private to your account. Our team does not look at them, except to fix a problem you report to us or when the law requires it.

We do NOT collect your location, contacts, photos, microphone audio or files.

Why we use it

• To log you in and keep your account and progress safe.

• To answer your questions with the Gita (your message is sent to an AI model to write the answer).

• To keep you safe: messages are checked for signs of crisis or harm so that we can show helplines instead of a normal answer.

• To run the free and Premium plans fairly (daily question limits) and to stop misuse.

• To understand which features help people and to fix problems. For this we look at usage patterns, mostly as totals and trends.

We do not sell your data, we do not show ads, and we do not use your data for advertising.

Who we share it with

We share data only with service providers that run SukhRaah for us, and only what they need:

• Supabase — our database, login and file storage.

• Google (Gemini API) — your question and the relevant Gita verses are sent to create the answer. Google processes it under its API terms.

• An SMS provider — to send your one-time password.

• Google Play — app distribution and, when available, Premium payments.

These providers may store or process data on servers outside India. We may also disclose data if the law requires it, or to protect someone's safety.

How long we keep it

We keep your account, chats and activity while your account is active.

When you delete your account (Settings → Delete account and all data), your profile, chats, bookmarks, activity and device records are deleted from our database. Copies in backups are overwritten within a limited period. We may keep totals and statistics that cannot identify you.

Logging out removes your data from that phone; it stays in your account until you delete it.

Your rights

Under the DPDP Act you can:

• ask what personal data we hold about you and how it is used;

• ask us to correct or complete it (you can change your name and language in Settings);

• delete it — at any time from Settings, or by writing to us;

• withdraw your consent — this means deleting your account, because SukhRaah cannot answer questions without processing them;

• nominate another person to exercise these rights if you die or become unable to;

• raise a grievance with us, and if you are not satisfied, complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

Write to support@sukhraah.com from the mobile number's owner and we will reply within 30 days.

Security

Data travels over encrypted connections. Each account can only read its own data, our AI and payment keys never leave our servers, and access to the database is limited. No system is perfectly secure, but if a breach affects you we will inform you and the authorities as the law requires.

Age

SukhRaah is only for people aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has created an account, write to us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we make important changes, we will show the new policy in the app and ask you to agree again before you continue.

When you visit sukhraah.com we record anonymous usage to understand what is useful: pages and sections viewed, buttons tapped, how far you scroll, whether you played today's verse, the site that sent you (for example Instagram or Google), your device type, browser, approximate country and city, and screen size. We do not store your IP address (only a one-way scrambled form used to stop spam), we do not use advertising cookies, and we do not share this data with advertisers.

If you join the waitlist, we store the name, email and/or WhatsApp number you give, your interests and the date, and use them only to tell you about the SukhRaah launch and important updates. To be removed, write to support@sukhraah.com; we will delete your entry.
